View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Presidential candidate Heo Kyung-young of the National Revolutionary Party submitted a reapplication instead of an appeal in response to the court's dismissal of the injunction request to ban the broadcast of the '4-person debate.' This new application includes a request to allow a '5-person debate' including candidate Heo.
At around 11 a.m. on the 3rd, candidate Heo submitted the injunction request to ban the broadcast of the 4-person presidential candidate debate to the Seoul Western District Court, stating, "I have prepared new claims and evidence," explaining the reason for the reapplication.
Regarding the reapplication on that day, candidate Heo said he added the purpose of the application. He emphasized, "In this reapplication, I added a request not only to ban the broadcast of the '4-person debate' but also to allow a '5-person debate' including myself."
Originally, candidate Heo was considering appealing the dismissal of the injunction request to ban the broadcast of the '4-person debate' by the Civil Division 21 of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Park Byung-tae) on the 28th, which was dismissed on the grounds of "reasonable discrimination."
Candidate Heo said, "The 4-person debate broadcast is scheduled to start at 8 p.m. today, and since the appeal process takes considerable time and there is no practical benefit in filing an appeal, I submitted a reapplication instead." It appears that he believes that if a hearing date is set through the reapplication, the debate scheduled for the same day can be blocked.
