6.0652 Trillion Won Spent Last Year, Ministry of Education to Provide Additional General Grants
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] The Gyeongnam Office of Education executed 6.0652 trillion won, exceeding the Ministry of Education's target amount of 6.041 trillion won, which was 96% of the goal, by 61.1 billion won last year, securing an additional 7.5 billion won in supplementary grants from the Ministry of Education for 2023.
The Ministry of Education operates a system that provides additional general grants to city and provincial offices of education that achieve their financial execution targets to revitalize the local economy and promote efficient financial management.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education expanded the advance notice system for government-supplied materials and the payment of advances and progress payments, formed a financial execution inspection team chaired by the vice superintendent to check the monthly financial execution status, and analyzed the causes of project delays.
Funds expected to be unspent and difficult to execute within the year were reduced through supplementary budgets to minimize carryover and unspent amounts, and the secured resources were established as a fund to respond to future educational demands.
