On the 29th, YTN released text messages sent by the mother, identified as A, to a friend on the day the infant's body was discovered. According to the messages, A boasted about "getting a tattoo" and sent photos of the tattoo to her friend. This was two days after she abandoned the baby.
It was confirmed that A and her husband visited a tattoo shop in Incheon to get tattoos. A’s husband told YTN, "She went to get a tattoo to cover a burn scar," and added, "Since the 20th was her day off, I suggested we go so she could also see the place." He further said, "She acted and looked just like usual, so no one suspected she had just given birth."
A is accused of abandoning her newborn baby at a clothing donation bin on a street in Gwoldong, Osan City, around 5:20 p.m. on the 18th.
The baby was discovered by a man collecting old clothes from the bin around 11:30 p.m. the following day. The infant was wrapped in a towel and found deceased. After analyzing CCTV footage near the clothing bin, the police arrested A at her home in Osan City on the 23rd, five days after the crime.
A’s husband said, "She told me the baby was stillborn and apologized." However, during the investigation, A stated that she had secretly given birth without her husband's knowledge and abandoned the baby in the clothing bin to hide the pregnancy. She said she gave birth secretly in the bathroom while her husband was in the living room, running water to mask the sound, and immediately abandoned the baby. The police are investigating the exact circumstances based on her testimony.
