[Boseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun (Governor Kim Cheol-woo) announced the ‘Reboot Boseong 3·3·3 Vision’ that will lead Boseong-gun through next year’s New Year’s address on the 30th.
The reboot: Boseong 3·3·3 Vision, announced as the core vision by Boseong-gun, means restarting, signifying the intention to reboot all sectors so that the residents of Boseong can experience a better life than before COVID-19.
The first three (3) refers to the speedy promotion of the three major SOC projects and five New Deal projects presented as Boseong-gun’s vision this year.
The three major SOC projects and five New Deals involve a budget of about 1 trillion won and represent the vision that will lead Boseong-gun’s future for the next 30 years.
The three major SOC projects are being promoted in three areas: ▲social infrastructure SOC, ▲living infrastructure SOC, and ▲marine leisure SOC.
The representative project promoted under social infrastructure SOC, the Boseong-Beolgyo Complex Community Center, began construction in Boseong-eup earlier this year, and Beolgyo-eup plans to complete design in the first half and start construction in the second half.
In particular, the Boseong-eup urban regeneration New Deal project was additionally selected, securing a budget of 14.5 billion won, and with the ongoing Beolgyo urban regeneration New Deal project, balanced urban regeneration has become possible.
The representative project of living infrastructure SOC, the Boseong-eup city gas supply project, is being promoted with a supply target of 2025, and it is expected that fuel costs per household will be reduced by about 800,000 won annually by simple calculation.
In the marine leisure SOC sector, the Yulpo Marine Leisure Hub project has started construction with a goal of completion in 2024, and Hosan Port was additionally designated for the Fishing Village New Deal 300 project, with a total of six locations undergoing fishing village New Deal projects.
A budget of 47.6 billion won was secured for the construction of a marine mudflat ecological network and trail creation project for the construction of a connecting bridge that allows walking from Beolgyo to Jangdo.
The five New Deals are promoted in the fields of ▲smart, ▲welfare, ▲agriculture, forestry and livestock, ▲youth and population, and ▲tourism.
With the selection of the nation’s largest eco-friendly agricultural infrastructure project, improvement projects for livestock odor vulnerable facilities, creation of the Boseong tea plantation leisure complex, and development of the Beolgyo Story Forest Cultural Park, new projects have been promoted, enabling a more substantial five New Deals.
The second three (3) of Reboot Boseong 3·3·3 is the three major challenges toward the world.
The first challenge is to hold the 10th Boseong World Tea Expo next year on an international event scale, bringing a new wind to the Boseong tea industry.
Boseong-gun has been striving to open a second renaissance of Boseong tea, befitting the name of the green tea capital Boseong.
As a result, the Boseong Green Tea Industry Special Zone was selected as an excellent special zone by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and Boseong tea was listed on Amazon, the world’s largest online shopping mall, ranking first in new products in the powdered tea category.
The Boseong terraced traditional tea agricultural system was registered as the 11th National Important Agricultural Heritage, and the challenge to register it as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage continues.
The 10th Boseong World Tea Expo this year will be held as a ‘festival-type expo’ to create an integrated expo where tea lovers worldwide unite.
It plans to confirm growth potential beyond simple food and beverages into the medifood and cosmetic industries and present a successful roadmap for the Boseong tea industry.
The second challenge is to successfully host the World Wetlands Day event in April next year, raising the value of Boseong’s marine resources not only as a marine leisure hub but also as a marine ecosystem mecca.
Following the honor of Boseong-Beolgyo mudflat being registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage under the name ‘Korean Mudflats’ last year, the national event World Wetlands Day was attracted to Boseong-gun.
As this is the first Wetlands Day event held after the ‘Korean Mudflats’ were registered as a World Natural Heritage, it is expected to attract worldwide attention.
In particular, Boseong-gun plans to create a special event sharing the value of mudflats that only Boseong can realize, beyond the basic value of mudflats as a treasure trove of life to the residents of Boseong, as a habitat where humans and nature coexist.
Boseong-gun will develop Deukryang Bay as a southern coast marine leisure hub through the Yulpo Marine Leisure Hub project and nurture Beolgyo Yeojaman as a treasure trove of marine ecology.
The third challenge is the challenge to register the Deukryang Obongsan Gudlejang quarry site as a World Cultural Heritage.
The Boseong Obongsan Gudlejang quarry site is the largest existing gudlejang quarry in the world and the best place to promote Korea’s excellent ondol culture to the world.
So far, Boseong-gun has made various efforts to publicize the cultural value of Obongsan by restoring the Obongsan horse cart road and holding academic conferences.
In particular, infrastructure improvements are being made by creating Deukryang Haepyeong Lake Garden around Obongsan.
Recently, the Cultural Heritage Administration conducted an on-site inspection to register the Obongsan Gudlejang site as a national cultural heritage.
Boseong-gun’s position is to first register the Obongsan Gudlejang site as a national cultural heritage and then steadily prepare for World Cultural Heritage registration.
The last three (3) is the active fostering of Boseong’s three major specialties.
So far, Boseong-gun has grown the recognition and brand value of specialties with Boseong green tea and Beolgyo cockles as the two major specialty products.
They plan to add Boseong kiwi, boasting the largest production volume nationwide, as the third major product.
Growth engines are also prepared.
The BS Three Musketeers, a Boseong specialty character that won the Korea Character Awards, consists of Nokchamon, Komakmon, and Kiwimon, and actively work as ambassadors promoting Boseong specialties nationwide.
Boseong tea was selected as a ‘Jeonnam-type regional growth strategic project’ next year, securing a project budget of 11 billion won.
This project is a major initiative that allows the Boseong tea industry to dream of leaping beyond simple food and beverages into a new industry.
To protect the precious mudflat resources that nurture Beolgyo cockles, a 250 billion won scale ‘National Mudflat Garden’ project has been proposed to central government ministries and is being jointly addressed with Suncheon City, and a 25.5 billion won budget is being invested in the restoration project of Yeojaman mudflats.
Boseong-gun held the nation’s first ‘1st Boseong Kiwi Festival’ last year.
This year, they plan to register Boseong kiwi as a geographical indication and steadily promote the Rural New Vitality Plus project for producing high-quality kiwi.
