[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Venture companies supported by POSCO Group will participate in ‘CES 2022,’ the largest IT and electronics convergence exhibition. Following POSCO ICT’s participation last year to introduce smart solutions, this year the group will showcase the POSCO-style venture platform that discovers new growth businesses.

POSCO Group will set up a joint exhibition booth with promising venture companies discovered and growing through POSCO Idea Marketplace (IMP) at CES 2022, held for four days from January 5 next year in Las Vegas, USA.

At this exhibition, POSCO Group will collaborate with POSTECH and the Research Institute of Industrial Science & Technology (RIST) to introduce a venture platform utilizing POSCO’s unique industry-academia-research infrastructure. A total of 13 company presentations will be held, including six ventures nurtured by POSCO, two ventures supported by POSCO International, and five startup ventures from POSTECH, along with RIST’s innovative technologies on display.

In particular, Graphene Square, which relocated its headquarters to Pohang last October and is establishing a mass production system for the ‘dream new material’ graphene together with POSCO, POSTECH, RIST, and Pohang City, will participate in this exhibition to introduce home appliances made with graphene materials. RIST will showcase mobile platform technologies that can prevent fire hazards in advance, such as AI-based fire monitoring autonomous robots.

Based on its unique industry-academia-research cooperation system, POSCO is creating a venture valley and building a virtuous cycle venture ecosystem by investing 1 trillion won in ventures through venture funds. In particular, POSCO actively supports venture companies from startup incubation to product development and market expansion. Following last year’s opening in Seoul, POSCO opened Change-up Ground in Pohang in July this year, providing a foundation where venture companies can utilize the country’s top scientific and technological infrastructure, actively leading the creation of a venture ecosystem.

POSCO has declared the ‘Good To Great’ vision, reflecting its commitment to revitalizing the startup ecosystem for the next decade, highlighting the efforts and achievements of the past 10 years.
