Gwangju Nam-gu Breaks Ground on Hyochon Cultural Complex Community Center
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The construction of the Hyochon Cultural Complex Community Center in Hyochon District, Nam-gu, Gwangju (Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) is set to begin in earnest.
Nam-gu announced on the 29th, "To improve the quality of life for residents in the district, we plan to invest 8.78 billion KRW to build the Hyochon Cultural Complex Community Center, equipped with a public library and a lifestyle culture center, by the end of 2022."
The Hyochon Cultural Complex Community Center was selected in 2019 through the government-led 'Living SOC Complex Project' competition and will be constructed in Haengam-dong in the form of a European-style salon building.
The total floor area will reach 3,617㎡, with various facilities planned across four above-ground floors.
In particular, the architectural design actively reflects user convenience by using full glass walls on the entire exterior so that residents can enjoy views of the surrounding natural environment and a wide-open sense of space upon entering the building.
The construction began on the 24th with the installation of fences around the site and will continue until the end of next year.
By around March next year, the underground structural work is expected to be completed, and from April, the construction of the four-story above-ground building will proceed in earnest.
After completion, the Hyochon Cultural Complex Community Center will serve as a communication space where diverse people across regions, classes, and generations can meet.
First, the first floor will be arranged as a cultural communication space with a lifestyle culture center to enhance convenience and accessibility for users. Various resident convenience facilities such as soundproof rooms for music activities like bands, wooden floor spaces for dance, exhibition rooms, and multipurpose rooms will be available.
From the second to the fourth floors, a public library, resting gardens, and meeting spaces will be arranged.
For the public library, the floor height has been increased to create a three-dimensional book storage system on the walls, allowing residents to comfortably read books anywhere in the space.
