Naju-si Selected as an 'Excellent Case' in Korea Rural Community Corporation's Self-Evaluation Report
[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Kang In-gyu) was selected as an excellent case in the win-win cooperation system category by the Jeonnam Regional Headquarters in the Korea Rural Community Corporation's self-evaluation.
According to the city on the 29th, the day before, Kim Seon-il, head of the Korea Rural Community Corporation Naju branch, presented a plaque of appreciation from the president of the Korea Rural Community Corporation to Mayor Kang In-gyu.
The city has been focusing on rural development projects such as the 'Rural Hub Revitalization Project' and the 'Basic Living Base Project' for rural areas that have been stagnant and marginalized, in cooperation with the Korea Rural Community Corporation.
Through this, it is expanding the supply functions of education, welfare, and cultural services to rural residents and establishing a foundation to deliver living services to the surrounding villages.
In particular, this year, through the selection of the Rural Agreement public contest project led by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs with a total project cost of 39 billion KRW (25.5 billion KRW national funds, 13.5 billion KRW local funds), it is promoting the revitalization of rural living zones.
Earlier, since October last year, the city has been establishing a 'Rural Spatial Strategy Plan' and a 'Priority Living Zone 5-Year Revitalization Plan' for the entire rural area for the next 20 years through an agreement with the Korea Rural Community Corporation Naju branch.
From next year until 2041, the two organizations have derived a rural spatial strategy plan centered on three living zones: 'Yeongsangang Riverside,' 'Old Downtown,' and 'Innovation City.'
Based on centrality, urgency, accessibility, and feasibility for each of the three living zones, the relatively underdeveloped Yeongsangang Riverside living zone, including Seji, Wanggok, Bannam, Gongsan, and Donggang-myeon, was designated as a priority living zone.
In the priority living zone, projects such as rural hub revitalization and basic living base creation will be promoted over five years from next year to 2026, aiming to realize a '365 Living Zone' without inconvenience anywhere in the rural area through the expansion of living SOC facilities.
Mayor Kang In-gyu said, "I thank the Korea Rural Community Corporation Naju branch for their efforts to establish various rural welfare foundations that rural residents can feel," and added, "We will strive to improve the quality of life of residents and distribute living SOC facilities through a sustainable cooperation system with the branch."
