At a discussion hosted by the Korea Regional Journalists Club held at the CCMM Building in Yeouido that afternoon, Lee said, "True integration is about clearly distinguishing interests, taking responsibility, and sharing roles," adding, "If we adhere to the principle of employing better policies and better people, integration will be achieved."
Regarding the pardon of former President Lee, he said, "We must simultaneously consider whether it helps national integration, whether sufficient retribution has been made, and whether the goals of criminal punishment?general or special prevention?have been achieved," and responded, "If it is necessary for integration, shouldn't only the necessary parts be pardoned?"
