[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Doo-seok) announced on the 28th that it has finalized the selection of this year’s ‘Top 10 Excellent Policies’ through surveys of residents and public officials.

Among the 37 policies and projects recommended by each department, the county selected 24 based on their contribution to county administration development and perceived impact, then narrowed them down to 15 candidates through a survey of department heads.

Subsequently, an online and offline vote involving 1,531 residents and public officials was conducted, selecting the top 10 in order of the highest number of votes.

As a result, the policy that shone the brightest this year was the ‘Yellow City Stadium Construction,’ which took first place.

The Yellow City Stadium features a main stadium and auxiliary stadiums with a total site area of 76,000㎡, accommodating 5,000 people, along with an athletics track and a Ssireum (Korean wrestling) arena. It also provides 1,200 parking spaces to enhance user convenience and includes a waterside park offering views of the Hwangryong River.

With cultural and sports facilities densely located nearby, a synergistic effect with the Yellow City Stadium is also expected.

The construction of a public sports stadium capable of hosting large-scale events had long been a heartfelt wish of the Jangseong residents.

However, due to the lack of a suitable site, the project had been stalled for a long time. Continuing its investigation, Jangseong-gun creatively secured the site by straightening the curved waterway of the Hwangryong River’s Chwiam Stream, resolving the residents’ long-standing project.

This also resulted in a reduction of approximately 4.5 billion KRW in land acquisition costs and ecological environment improvement effects.

Following the public sports stadium construction, the ‘COVID-19 Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Distribution’ implemented earlier this year for all residents received a high number of votes.

It is evaluated as a catalyst that revived the local commercial district struggling with business difficulties and the depressed livelihood economy.

Governor Yoo Doo-seok said, “This year, projects closely related to daily life that residents can feel the changes in were mainly selected. Based on these achievements, we will complete Yellow City Jangseong, where all residents can enjoy a happy life.”
