Gangjin-gun Receives Excellence Award in Jeollanam-do Comprehensive Forest Administration Evaluation

[Gangjin＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin County in Jeollanam-do has been selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2021 Comprehensive Evaluation of Forestry Administration’ conducted by Jeollanam-do, receiving an institutional commendation and incentive projects.

According to the county on the 28th, the evaluation is conducted annually by Jeollanam-do targeting 22 cities and counties within the province, comprehensively assessing the overall progress and execution performance of forestry administration to select outstanding cities and counties.

The evaluation reviewed a total of 19 indicators across three areas: the government joint evaluation, creating a forested Jeonnam, and urban forest creation, which are major policy projects of Jeollanam-do.

Gangjin County received excellent evaluations for actively promoting forestry administration this year through early removal of kudzu vines, multipurpose forest resource cultivation via economic tree and regional specialized afforestation projects, preemptive construction of erosion control facilities before the rainy season to prevent landslides and soil erosion, and strengthening activities to achieve zero forest fires caused by burning.

Additionally, the county actively promoted the Creating a Forested Jeonnam project by establishing a resident and organization participation forest in the Samheung Reservoir area of Chillyang-myeon, planting a total of 3,479 trees including roses, hydrangeas, and Japanese horse chestnut trees.

Lim Chang-bok, Director of the Marine Forestry Division, stated, “I believe this is the result of our hard work throughout 2021 to achieve healthy and income-generating forestry administration,” and added, “We will do our best to form greener and more pleasant forests and develop forestry administration together with forestry workers in the future.”
