Gyeonggi Arts Center to Host Jeju 4·3 Original Opera 'Suni Samchon' on the 30th
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Arts Center will perform the original opera "Suni Samchon," co-produced with the Jeju 4·3 Peace Foundation, at the Grand Theater on the 30th of this month.
This performance is based on Hyun Ki-young's novel "Suni Samchon," which deals with the Jeju 4·3 Incident. It was previously staged at the Jeju Arts Center in September this year.
The work is inspired by the life of the protagonist "Suni Samchon," who lost his children in the massacre of civilians that occurred in Bukchon-ri, Jeju, in 1949.
Soprano Kang Hye-myung, who served as the opera director and artistic supervisor, plays the role of Suni Samchon, with performances by the Jeju Provincial Arts Troupe, Garam Theater Company, and Jeju 4·3 Peace Choir.
Those who wish to attend the performance can apply for tickets limited to two per person on the Gyeonggi Arts Center website. All seats are free of charge.
