Ulsan Office of Education Establishes Support System Centered on Educational Activities in Schools
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Trainee Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education is promoting 20 projects under three major tasks, including improving administrative work processing methods, to create schools centered on educational activities.
The Office of Education has informed institutions and schools of the 2022 Basic Plan for Normalizing School Work Centered on Educational Activities, which contains these details.
The individual tasks include establishing a support system and building consensus, improving administrative work processing methods and enhancing work efficiency, and strengthening on-site inspections and spreading best practices.
The Office of Education will upload more than 500 materials this year to the School Work Information Sharing Center, which provides information related to school work, and will provide example materials for each stage of work processing.
The Office plans to establish a dedicated Academic Administration Team responsible for academic administrative tasks to minimize homeroom teachers' administrative work in all schools this year.
Last year, out of 247 schools, 233 schools (94%) formed Academic Administration Teams. These teams are organized considering each school's circumstances. The dedicated teams are structured to divide tasks so that specific target teachers and educational administrative staff are not overburdened.
The Office of Education provides booklets for faculty meetings with agendas and discussions to help schools create a democratic meeting culture.
Professional learning communities, where teachers research, practice, and grow to innovate classes and educational activities, are required to secure and operate at least four hours per month.
Training to improve faculty awareness of normalizing school work and training to support educational activities for educational administrative staff will also be strengthened.
The Office of Education integrates and operates departmental schedules during the concentrated award period at the end of the year to improve administrative work processing methods.
To reduce administrative work, the total volume system for school-targeted contest projects limits up to three contest projects worth 3 million KRW or more, aiming to organize unnecessary contest projects and discourage new contest projects.
According to the Office of Education’s plan, tasks implemented minimize schools’ own plans to reduce administrative work by strengthening the linkage system for official school documents.
Plans included in the school education plan are, in principle, not to be established separately.
Additionally, various meetings and training sessions hosted by the Office of Education are integrated and reduced, and the duration of meetings and training is minimized.
In February, ahead of the March school opening, a month focused on preparing educational activities will be operated to secure preparation time for the new school year.
