Samsung Heavy, Wins Order for One LNG Carrier Worth 240 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Samsung Heavy Industries announced on the 27th that it has secured an order for one LNG carrier worth 240 billion KRW from a shipping company in the Latin American region. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered by December 2024.
Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries has recorded a total of 80 vessels and 12.2 billion USD in orders this year. This exceeds the annual target of 9.1 billion USD by 34%, marking the highest achievement since the 13.3 billion USD orders in 2013.

A Samsung Heavy Industries official stated, "We are conducting sales activities with a differentiated strategy focusing on securing high value-added eco-friendly vessels such as LNG carriers by leveraging our technological competitiveness," and added, "Due to the increase in global LNG cargo volume and the demand for vessel replacement driven by strengthened environmental regulations, the order trend for LNG carriers is expected to continue."
