Yeosu City Reaches Agreement on Employment Succession for 33 Non-Regular Workers at Namhae Chemical
Yeosu City Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council 'Overnight Mediation'
[Yeosu=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Kyung-taek] The Yeosu City Labor-Management-Government Council announced on the 23rd that it has dramatically signed an employment succession agreement for 33 non-regular workers at Namhae Chemical, who had become a local issue for about 30 days due to non-transfer of employment.
At 3 p.m. that day, the signing ceremony took place in the Yeosu Mayor's office, attended by Yeosu Mayor Kwon Oh-bong, Kim Tae-young, head of the Yeosu branch of the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Shin Hwan-seop, chairman of the National Chemical, Textile, and Food Industry Labor Union, and Yoon Eun-young, CEO of Changmyeong Logistics.
The dismissal of 33 non-regular workers at Namhae Chemical became an issue when the company changed from Hipec Co., Ltd. to Changmyeong Logistics Co., Ltd. in November, and employment succession was not carried out.
During the negotiation process, Yeosu Mayor Kwon Oh-bong also visited and urged a smooth resolution, and the Labor-Management-Government Working Council is known to have reached the final agreement at 7 a.m. today after overnight mediation on the 22nd.
Kwon Oh-bong, chairman of the Yeosu City Labor-Management-Government Council, said, “I am grateful that a smooth resolution was achieved, relieving the worries and inconveniences faced by both labor and management at their workplaces and homes, as well as by the citizens.”
