Muan-gun Receives Award for Excellence in Cadastral Resurvey
Next Year, Reinvestigation of 5,836 Parcels in 8 Villages across 4 Districts... Securing 1.1 Billion KRW in National Funding

View original image[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do, was selected as the best institution in the 2021 Cadastral Resurvey Project Promotion Basic Local Government Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and received an institutional commendation.
According to the county on the 23rd, the cadastral resurvey project is a long-term national project from 2012 to 2030 that corrects the registration details of the cadastral register that do not match the actual status of the land, converts it into digital cadastral data, protects the property rights of residents, and increases the value of land utilization.
This time, the evaluation was conducted on various items including overall project promotion performance, resolution of cadastral discrepancies, best practices, policy contribution, global geodetic coordinate conversion, publicity performance, and budget execution. Muan-gun received high scores in all fields and was honored as the best institution.
In particular, it was recognized for its contribution to the cadastral resurvey policy by actively promoting resident-friendly policies that differentiate it from other local governments during project promotion, such as establishing a cadastral resurvey data management system, producing and distributing comprehensive maps of completed project areas, and collaborating on small-scale development projects.
Also, Kang Sung-wook, the head of Songsan Village, Samhyang-eup, who promoted the cadastral resurvey project in the Maekpo 1 district, said about Muan-gun’s commendation award, “Through the cadastral resurvey, not only were boundary disputes among village residents resolved, but also a new cadastral map was created that can serve as a foundation for future village development, such as resolving blind spots by maintaining village roads. I sincerely congratulate Muan-gun and thank them.”
Since starting with the Muan Gojul district in 2012, Muan-gun has successfully promoted the cadastral resurvey project for 17,742 parcels across 22 districts so far. As requests from local residents have increased, the number of parcels resurveyed has steadily expanded every year, with 2,321 parcels in 2020 and 3,228 parcels in 2021.
Next year, with 1.1 billion KRW secured in national funds, the county plans to resurvey 5,836 parcels, the largest volume of work undertaken so far.
Seo Inam, Deputy Governor of Muan-gun, who attended the commendation ceremony, said, “The cadastral resurvey project not only resolves cadastral discrepancies but also settles boundary disputes among landowners and greatly helps residents exercise their property rights. Since the project volume will be significantly expanded next year, we ask for the active interest and cooperation of the residents.”
