The preliminary urban regeneration project is a project where key projects for regional development are selected through discussions with local residents and are promoted proactively by the residents.
It can be linked and developed with large-scale urban regeneration New Deal projects, and it can expand resident participation and strengthen resident capabilities.
Wanju-gun is focusing on improving the deteriorated alley, the main entrance of Omok Village, into a pleasant and safe school route for students and operating a recycling plastic power plant.
In addition, it plans to operate resident participation projects to promote resident contest projects, aiming for continuous promotion of the preliminary urban regeneration project and expansion of resident participation.
In particular, by strengthening the capabilities of the urban regeneration resident council, it aims to nurture village activists, coordinators, and local resident leaders who can be utilized in the urban regeneration New Deal project, and to establish a foundation for sustainable village enterprise development by nurturing village leaders to foster village management social enterprises.
Through this, it expects to create jobs for local residents and utilize the human resources of the resident council as the foundation of regional regeneration, playing a central role in future urban regeneration projects.
Subsequently, Wanju-gun plans to apply for the main project, the urban regeneration New Deal project, after completing the preliminary urban regeneration project in Iseo-myeon, which was selected as the preliminary urban regeneration project.
