Jeonnam Province Receives Top Award for Proactive Administration of Navy Hansando Ship-Linked Maritime Vaccination Center
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Jeonnam Province announced on the 22nd that the ‘Navy Hansando-class Ship Linked Maritime Vaccination Center’ won the Grand Prize at the ‘2021 Second Half Active Administration Best Practice Competition.’
At the awards ceremony, Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum personally presented certificates to public officials of central government ministries and local governments who demonstrated active administration. Jeonnam Province’s Chief Officer Choi Byung-rok (Infectious Disease Control Division) received the certificate.
The ‘Hansando-class Ship Linked Maritime Vaccination Center,’ which won the grand prize, is recognized as the first domestic case of public-private-military cooperative vaccination promotion.
It provided on-site COVID-19 vaccination services to 638 residents of 27 islands. It was evaluated as contributing to improving vaccination convenience for residents of remote islands and uninhabited islands with low accessibility to the mainland.
In addition, the province conducted customized vaccinations for underserved groups such as unregistered foreigners, essential workers, and infection-vulnerable facilities through local government autonomous vaccinations and Janssen vaccines, striving to eliminate vaccination blind spots.
Kang Young-gu, Director of Health and Welfare Bureau of Jeonnam Province, said, “Many public officials and health and medical personnel have worked hard to respond to COVID-19, and we are pleased to have achieved good results. Taking this award as an opportunity, we will build a more thorough quarantine network through more proactive administration and do our best to protect the health and safety of the residents.”
Meanwhile, Jeonnam Province is accelerating the third vaccination for adults aged 18 and over and student vaccinations.
Anyone aged 18 or older can receive the third vaccination if three months have passed since the second vaccination. Students can be vaccinated through various channels such as public health centers, school visit vaccinations, and designated medical institutions. The vaccination rate in Jeonnam is 87.5% (1.61 million) for the first dose, 84.7% (1.56 million) for the second dose, and 33.4% (610,000) for the third dose, out of a total population of 1.84 million.
