Gyeongsang National University Opens 2nd Lecture of Gyeongnamhak Project
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Gyeongsang National University is establishing a foundation for Gyeongnam studies research that will expand from the local region to the world in the glocal era, and to communicate its achievements with local residents, it will open the second lecture series of the ‘2021 Gyeongsang National University Gyeongnam Studies Project.’
This is one of the university’s humanities promotion policies aimed at fostering Gyeongsang National University as a hub research institution for Korean studies, and it is a project to broaden and popularize its outcomes. The project is carried out with support from the 2021 National University Development Project.
The ‘Korean Studies Research Promotion Project’ pursued by Gyeongsang National University with a long-term perspective primarily aims to establish regional identity and realize community consciousness by discovering the spirit of Gyeongnam or Gyeongnam studies.
The Gyeongsang National University Ancient Documents Library will hold expert lectures in the field of Gyeongnam studies every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. for two hours from the 28th of this month to January 25th. This lecture series is the second session following the lectures that sparked explosive interest among local residents last summer, consisting of a total of eight lectures.
This lecture series invites experts from various fields related to Gyeongnam studies to explore the archetypes or spirit of Gyeongnam studies and return the results to the local community. This time, the series is composed of eight fields including ‘Concepts, Scenic Spots, Spirit, Figures, History, Arts, Language, and Nammyung Studies,’ adding topics such as the equity movement centered in the Jinju area and changes in place names.
