The Wonju Police Station in Gangwon announced on the 21st that they have arrested a man in his 40s, Mr. A, on suspicion of murder and are investigating the case.
Mr. A is accused of stabbing and killing a woman in her 60s, Ms. B, the building owner, at a one-room apartment in Wonju City on the 15th.
It is known that Mr. A secretly entered and lived in the vacant one-room apartment where the lock was broken and needed repair, and committed the crime when he encountered Ms. B. After the crime, he also stole Ms. B’s bag and mobile phone and fled.
Ms. B, who lived in Gyeonggi Province, had visited the one-room apartment after receiving a repair request from a tenant and was stabbed to death by Mr. A.
When Ms. B did not return home, her family reported her missing, and the police found her dead in the one-room apartment on the 17th. After tracking through closed-circuit television (CCTV) and other means, they urgently arrested Mr. A hiding in a motel on the 18th.
