Muju-gun Designates and Operates COVID-19 Safe Accommodations
Expected Anxiety Reduction and Spread Prevention Effects from Home Treatment
[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju-gun announced on the 21st that it will designate and operate a safe recovery accommodation where COVID-19 home treatment patients or cohabitants can be separated.
Muju-gun designated the Muju Firefly Youth Training Center, which has a total of 18 rooms among multi-use facilities in the region, as a safe accommodation. The main building (3rd floor) will be used for home treatment patients, and the Starry House (1st floor) will be used as a space for cohabitants of home treatment patients (one room per person).
The safe accommodation is equipped with convenience facilities and items such as a bathroom, bed, TV, refrigerator, microwave, electric kettle, intercom, and hairdryer, but cooking is not allowed.
The target for admission includes families with multiple members where one person is confirmed positive and home treatment is not possible, or close contacts who need to be separated from the patient (if they wish to be separated from the confirmed patient), and non-contact family members (cohabitants) who need temporary residence facilities due to the confirmed patient's home treatment.
The safe accommodation will be utilized according to the classification criteria for home treatment patients when a confirmed case occurs.
Deputy Governor Kim Hee-ok said, "According to government policy, since November 26, home treatment has been implemented for all confirmed patients except those with hospitalization factors," adding, "There are concerns about infection among cohabiting family members during home treatment, so to prevent this and further stop the spread in the local community, the county decided to designate and operate safe accommodations on its own."
Muju-gun is currently operating a home treatment promotion team, establishing and executing the best medical response system through the health management team (bed waiting management), transport team, and isolation management team (12 dedicated public officials).
Detailed guidelines will also be prepared for management such as transportation and movement of safe accommodation users, continuous monitoring, facility supplementation, support for meals and necessary items (bedding, medical kits, and groceries), waste disposal, and designation of cooperating pharmacies.
