Goheung-gun Selected as the Best Institution in the 2021 Comprehensive Hygiene Work Evaluation
Expansion of Standing Table Installation Fees and High Evaluation of Support Project for Environment Improvement of Beauty and Barber Shops
Selected as an Excellent Food Safety Management Institution for 2 Consecutive Years and an Excellent Institution in Jeollanam-do for 3 Consecutive Years
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Song Gwi-geun) announced that it has been honored as the best institution in the food and public hygiene management sector and an excellent institution in the food culture improvement sector in the comprehensive evaluation of city and county hygiene management projects conducted by Jeollanam-do.
On the 15th, Jeollanam-do conducted an evaluation targeting 22 cities and counties to create a safe hygiene environment in local communities and promote awareness improvement of food culture. The evaluation covered a total of 41 items in 16 fields including food and public hygiene management and food culture improvement.
As a result of this evaluation, excellence was proven in guidance and inspection of hygiene establishments, food poisoning prevention management, management of food and public hygiene establishments, and promotion of food culture improvement projects for practicing Namdo food culture. Consequently, the institution received an award, public official commendations, along with prize money of 2 million KRW and project funds of 10 million KRW.
In particular, in the first half of this year, Goheung-gun was selected as an excellent institution in food safety management for two consecutive years by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, following last year, and achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as an excellent institution for three consecutive years in evaluations conducted by Jeollanam-do.
Goheung-gun received high evaluations for differentiated policies such as expanding support for the installation cost of standing tables, supporting restaurant facility environment improvement projects, and supporting environment improvement projects for beauty and hair salons compared to other cities and counties.
Especially, to prevent COVID-19, consumer food hygiene monitors were utilized to promote quarantine rules according to social distancing levels, strapless masks were distributed to beauty and hair salons, and quarantine supplies such as hand sanitizers and disinfectants were distributed to food and public hygiene establishments to thoroughly prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A county official stated, “We will do our best to improve food culture, hygiene establishment environments, and service levels in 2022,” and urged, “As COVID-19 infections in local communities are becoming increasingly serious, we ask for utmost compliance with quarantine rules, especially in multi-use establishments such as entertainment facilities with high infection risk, restaurants, cafes, and bathhouses.”
