[Asia Economy Reporter Minwoo Lee] Choi Hyun-man, Chairman of Mirae Asset Securities, was selected as the '2021 Capital Market Person of the Year' by the Korea Exchange.
The Korea Exchange announced on the 20th that Chairman Choi was chosen as the '2021 Capital Market Person of the Year' through recommendations from member companies, Korea Exchange accredited reporters, and exchange employees, followed by voting from general investors and accredited reporters on the Korea Exchange website.
The 'Capital Market Person of the Year' award was established this year for the first time with the purpose of raising interest in the capital market and expanding the investor base by recognizing individuals who have contributed to the development of Korea's capital market and the spread of a sound investment culture.
The exchange explained the selection background, stating, "Chairman Choi is the CEO of the securities firm that ranked first in IPO underwriting performance, having newly listed 21 companies including Krafton, which recorded the largest public offering amount this year. He has greatly revitalized Korea's capital market and contributed to expanding the investor base. Additionally, as a figure who has grown alongside the development of the domestic financial investment industry, he is the first professional manager to become chairman of a securities firm this month, and is regarded as a person whose role in Korea's capital market will continue to be noteworthy."
