National Pension Service Recognized for Fair Hiring Efforts, Receives 'Minister of Education Award'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park So-yeon] The National Pension Service announced on the 20th that it was selected as an outstanding institution at the '2021 Fair Recruitment and Blind Recruitment Best Practices Competition' hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea on the 17th, receiving the Minister of Education Award.
The Fair Recruitment and Blind Recruitment Best Practices Competition has been held annually since 2016 to discover and spread excellent cases in the public and private sectors that practice fair recruitment.
The National Pension Service has been conducting blind recruitment since 2018, leading the establishment of a bias-free recruitment culture in public institutions, and was selected as an outstanding institution for two consecutive years following the Minister of Employment and Labor Award last year.
The Service operates a thorough blind recruitment process that excludes all bias factors such as age, academic background, and major throughout the entire recruitment process to evaluate candidates based on job competency.
As a result, it has become possible to select diverse talents without focusing on specific age groups, regions, or genders. This year, the proportion of female employees among newly hired staff reached 69%, and the proportion of talents from non-metropolitan areas who graduated from local schools (excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon regions) was 59%.
In addition, institutional measures such as the continuous operation of a recruitment corruption reporting center and strengthened disciplinary actions against recruitment-related misconduct have been established to fundamentally block factors of recruitment corruption. Since the introduction of the blind recruitment system in 2018, not a single case of recruitment corruption has occurred.
