[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City in Jeollanam-do has achieved the great feat of winning the top prize for two consecutive years in the Jeollanam-do job creation evaluation.
On the 16th, the city announced that it received the top prize in the job creation category and the encouragement award in the investment attraction category among 22 cities and counties at the ‘2021 Job and Investment Attraction Festival’ held at the Wangin Room of Jeollanam-do Provincial Office.
The Job and Investment Attraction Festival was organized to evaluate and select local governments with excellent achievements in job creation and investment attraction for regional development throughout the year, to award certificates to outstanding companies that increased good jobs, and to recognize and celebrate the efforts of meritorious institutions and individuals.
The selection of excellent cities and counties in job creation evaluated performance in 16 detailed indicators across six areas including ‘employment indicators,’ ‘job budget,’ ‘youth and middle-aged job projects,’ and ‘job support and policies.’
The city, shining with two consecutive years of top prize awards, received high evaluations in improving employment indicators such as increased employment rate and number of employed persons compared to last year, youth and vulnerable group job project implementation rate, promotional performance, job support center employment mediation, specialized customized education, and policy evaluation.
This year, the city has been striving to promote youth job projects leading the 4th Industrial Revolution in regional innovative growth strategic industries such as ‘energy, artificial intelligence, cloud, and big data.’
In this regard, the city has expanded region-led youth job projects linked with Jeollanam-do’s ‘Blue Economy Youth Job 6 Major Projects’ and ‘Youth Village Project,’ achieving the milestone of 244 youths crossing the employment threshold.
Additionally, the city received high praise for significantly contributing to revitalizing the employment market, which was stagnated due to COVID-19, through customized job education support such as step-by-step employment training courses including ‘distribution function team,’ ‘electric energy convergence,’ and ‘accounting practitioner training,’ as well as ‘job seeker and employer counseling’ through the Job Support Center.
The excellent job company in the Naju area was selected as LCS Co., Ltd. (CEO Namyeongchan), a software and game-related development company.
LCS Co., Ltd. received balanced evaluations in 14 items across four areas including ‘job creation,’ ‘employment stability,’ and ‘corporate management.’
Outstanding companies receive administrative and financial support such as 20 million KRW for employment environment improvement funds, preferential loan limits for facility funds (2 billion KRW), loan limits for operating funds (500 million KRW) with interest support (1.4~2.5%), and exemption from local tax audits for three years.
Jung Chankyun, Deputy Mayor of Naju, said, “Although the employment market situation was challenging this year due to the prolonged impact of COVID-19, this is the result of our efforts to implement customized job policies suitable for local conditions. We will do our best to provide a job creation foundation and upgraded employment and job services suitable for the industrial conditions of the old downtown and innovation city, centered on the Job Comprehensive Center opened last month.”
