Applying Factory-Manufactured, On-Site Assembled 'OSC Technology,' Expecting Over 30% Construction Period Reduction
Process Simplification to Reduce Safety Accident Rates, Durability Improvement to Enhance Earthquake Resistance
Hyundai Construction announced on the 16th that the ‘End Reinforced PC Double Wall (Pre Cast Double Wall) Composite Method,’ jointly developed with Sampyo P&C, has been designated as a new construction technology by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The new construction technology designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport signifies that the technology is either the first of its kind in Korea or is judged to have significant advancement and field applicability, granting it a monopolistic position in the construction market.
The newly developed PC Double Wall method is part of the OSC (Off Site Construction) technology, which shifts from on-site production to factory production. It involves manufacturing two interconnected PC (Pre Cast) wall panels in a factory, transporting them to the site, and connecting the two PC wall panels to form a single wall.
Hyundai Construction expects that applying this method on-site will streamline work, reduce construction time by about 30% compared to existing methods, and decrease safety accidents due to process simplification. As a result, the durability of concrete walls is enhanced, improving earthquake resistance and ensuring quality in areas vulnerable to leakage.
Hyundai Construction has verified the structural performance of this method through technical certification from the Korea Institute of Building Structure Technology and has completed registration of four related patents.
The production of the PC Double Wall is carried out in an automated factory based on a BIM (Building Information Modeling)-based integrated management system. The production process using BIM eliminates the need for standardized molds (formwork), enabling high quality and production efficiency.
Since 2015, Hyundai Construction has applied the PC method to the external walls of underground parking lots, expanding it to a PC method that simultaneously constructs two underground floors. With this achievement, it has become possible to newly develop and apply the PC Double Wall method to underground floors of apartments for the first time in Korea. Going forward, Hyundai Construction plans to continuously develop OSC technology to maximize quality, safety, and required performance in construction production methods, thereby continuously improving business efficiency.
