Gangjin-gun, Jeonnam Province Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force Wins 'Excellence Award'
Recognition of Public-Private Cooperation Achievements in Overcoming Heavy Rain Damage Crisis

View original image[Gangjin=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 15th that it received the Grand Prize at the ‘2021 Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force Performance Sharing Conference’ held at the Kim Dae-jung Auditorium of Jeonnam Provincial Office on the 13th.
The event was attended by cities, counties, and private organizations promoting and cooperating in the Welfare Task Force project, as well as Governor Kim Young-rok, Chairman Kim Han-jong of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, task force members, and others. The program included sharing this year’s achievements, presentations of excellent cases from Gangjin-gun and Haenam-gun, commendations for meritorious persons, donation ceremonies, competition awards, and congratulatory performances.
Gangjin-gun was recognized for its efforts to overcome the crises of 2021, which were more difficult than ever due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and heavy rain damage, receiving the Grand Prize and a prize money of 5 million won.
Additionally, Park Jong-jae, head of the Gangjin-gun Welfare Task Force, received a governor’s commendation for his dedicated volunteer service in revitalizing the Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force.
There were 38 excellent case entries in two categories for the competition, showing a competition rate of 5.4 to 1, and the winners were decided through first and second rounds of internal and external evaluations.
In the city and county category, the grand prize went to Haenam-gun, the grand excellence award to Gangjin-gun, excellence awards to Boseong-gun, and encouragement awards to Suncheon-si and Wando-gun. The cooperation organization participation awards were given to the Korea Thermal Management Construction Association Jeollanam-do Chapter and the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea.
County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, “I thank the Welfare Task Force members who stepped forward to resolve neighbors’ inconveniences throughout the year,” and added, “We will continue to actively support the Gangjin-gun Welfare Task Force so that it can cooperate with the public and private sectors to create a warmer, more compassionate, and happier Gangjin.”
Meanwhile, the ‘Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force Project’ is a successful private cooperation case attracting nationwide attention. In Gangjin-gun, 12 teams are active, cooperating with the Gangjin-gun Saemaul Association and the Gangjin-gun Community Security Council.
