View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] A dummy (model) video showing the design of the Galaxy S22 series, which Samsung Electronics will unveil at the Galaxy Unpacked (new product launch) event in February next year, has been released.
According to related industries on the 15th, following dummy photos presumed to be the actual Galaxy S22 series (Ultra, Plus, and standard models) released by IT tipster Yogesi Bra, a dummy video posted by Steve McFly was also revealed on Twitter.
On the 14th (local time), Steve McFly posted a video on Twitter with hashtags such as #Samsung, #GalaxyS22, #GalaxyS22Plus, #GalaxyS22Ultra, and #Dummy. This is similar to the images previously released by Yogesi Bra. The only difference is that the basic model color shown in McFly’s video is white.
Due to the recurring issue of pre-release leaks every year, many IT companies, including Samsung, are struggling. Samsung Electronics has confirmed February as the month for the Galaxy S22 series Unpacked event and recently obtained confidentiality agreements from internal company personnel. Although some speculate that intentional leaks are made for marketing effects, most companies are generally negative about pre-release information leaks.
Based on the images released so far, the designs of the standard and Plus models are generally similar to the previous Galaxy S21 series. They feature rounded corners and contour-cut bumps, with the camera module vertically arranged on the upper left of the rear. The material appears to be glossy plastic. The display sizes are reported to be approximately 6.06 to 6.1 inches for the standard model, 6.5 to 6.6 inches for the Plus, and 6.8 inches for the Ultra (Note). The application processors (AP) are presumed to be Samsung Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 898.
The top-tier model, the 'Galaxy S22 Ultra,' has a box-shaped design with a slightly more angular exterior than the standard and Plus models. The camera module is arranged without a camera bump, and the material is matte, giving a relatively subdued impression. Some speculate that the S22 Ultra could be replaced by the 'S22 Note.' IT tipster Tron claimed on Twitter on the 10th, "The S22 Ultra is dead," and stated, "The next model name will be 'S22 Note'." The Note series is a device that incorporates an S Pen, allowing freehand writing.
Due to the semiconductor supply shortage, a price increase is inevitable. The S22’s price is expected to be about 100,000 KRW higher than the previous S21 series. The highest-spec model is anticipated to reach the 1.5 million KRW range. Since the previous Galaxy S21 series set a price below 1 million KRW to enhance price competitiveness, price will likely be a significant variable.
