"Non-Alcoholic Beer is Rising"... Seven Eleven Sees 6-Fold Sales Increase
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Non-alcoholic beer, which tastes similar to regular beer, is gaining great popularity at convenience stores. This is due to increased interest in health amid COVID-19 and the spread of home drinking culture, leading more people to enjoy drinking lightly.
According to 7-Eleven on the 15th, sales of non-alcoholic beer from January to the 14th of this month increased sixfold compared to the same period last year. In particular, women and people in their 20s purchased a lot of non-alcoholic beer. The sales proportion by gender for non-alcoholic beer was overwhelmingly higher for women at 70.9% compared to men at 29.1%. By age group, sales increased by 572.4% among those in their 20s, 497.2% among those in their 30s and 40s, and 459.5% among those aged 50 and above. By commercial district, sales in single-person household areas increased by 560.3% compared to the previous year.
The popularity of non-alcoholic beer has also diversified the product lineup. At 7-Eleven, there were only three types of non-alcoholic beer last year, but this year the number has increased to seven. They plan to strengthen product assortment and discount events, anticipating more consumers seeking non-alcoholic beer in the future.
