Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was asked for comments on the declaration of the end of the war during a regular briefing on the 14th and said, "Transforming the Korean Peninsula armistice system into a peace system is an important component of the political resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue," adding, "This is the universal expectation of the international community."
He continued, "As a signatory to the Korean War armistice agreement, China will continue communication and consultation with relevant countries regarding affairs on the Korean Peninsula," and added, "We will continue to play a constructive role going forward."
Earlier, President Moon Jae-in, after holding a summit with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Canberra, the capital of Australia, on the 13th (local time), said at a joint press conference regarding the declaration of the end of the war initiative, "Our government will strive to ensure that the approach is made through dialogue as much as possible until the very end."
