Hampyeong-gun's 'Block Without Gaps' Total Effort to Prevent Omicron Variant Spread
Operation of 'Temporary Pause Week' for Residents from the 13th to the 19th
Campaign to Refrain from Year-End and New Year Travel, Gatherings, and Events
[Hampyeong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Amid growing fears of infectious disease spread due to the domestic occurrence of the highly transmissible Omicron variant virus, Hampyeong County has launched an all-out response to block the COVID-19 virus.
On the 12th, the county quickly responded with proactive testing, disinfection, and self-quarantine measures as Omicron variant epidemiologically related confirmed cases continued to emerge within the jurisdiction.
Since the 8th, a total of 18 COVID-19 confirmed cases have occurred in Hampyeong County. The county's quarantine authorities urgently operated temporary screening clinics even on weekends and immediately closed the outbreak sites to swiftly block community transmission.
Additionally, all 3,026 people suspected of potential chain infections were tested, and extensive epidemiological investigations were conducted.
Close contacts numbering 353 were placed under self-quarantine, and daily testing is being conducted to detect additional confirmed cases, demonstrating a rapid response.
Furthermore, Hampyeong County will operate a "Pause Week" from the 13th to the 19th.
Eleven daycare centers, two Taekwondo gyms, one art academy, and ten local children's centers in the area will be urgently closed, and kindergartens as well as elementary and middle schools will switch to non-face-to-face online classes.
On the morning of the same day, Hampyeong County held a campaign to encourage refraining from movement, gatherings, and events during the year-end and New Year period to prevent the spread of COVID-19 around the Hampyeongcheonji Traditional Market area.
The campaign was attended by about ten people including Lee Sang-ik, Hampyeong County Governor, and Kim Hyung-mo, Chairman of the Hampyeong County Council, and was conducted at the traditional market and shopping district on market day.
They urged residents to raise their vigilance, which had relaxed after the phased transition to daily life recovery, and to practice personal quarantine rules such as refraining from movement and gatherings and wearing masks during the year-end and New Year period.
