North Korea Emphasizes First Year Results of 'Five-Year Economic Plan'... "Let's Perfectly Implement Party Decisions"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As the year-end marks the completion of the first year of the new five-year economic development plan, North Korea has urged not to relax tensions and to fully implement the Party's decisions.
The Workers' Party organ, Rodong Sinmun, reported on the 12th in an editorial titled 'Let us prove our loyalty to the Party and the revolution through the perfect execution of the Party's decisions,' stating that "perfectly implementing the Party's decisions is a crucial task to uphold and defend the absolute authority of our Party."
The newspaper emphasized that whether the new development of socialist construction is demonstrated and whether the people gain confidence (pride) in victory depends on the results of the first year of the five-year plan, and urged not to become complacent as the year enters its final stage.
North Korea acknowledged the practical failure of the five-year plan from 2016 to 2020 and presented a new five-year economic plan at the 8th Party Congress in January this year. Furthermore, as the year-end approaches, state media have been continuously emphasizing the implementation of the five-year plan, and it is expected that the upcoming plenary meeting scheduled for late this month, coinciding with the '10th anniversary of Kim Jong-un's leadership,' will showcase the plan's achievements domestically and internationally.
General Secretary Kim Jong-un also evaluated at the 5th Political Bureau meeting of the 8th Central Committee on the 1st that "overall, this year is a year of victory."
