Japan Omicron Cases Increase to 13 Confirmed Patients

On the 11th, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced that a man in his 40s residing in Gifu Prefecture tested positive for Omicron.
The cumulative number of Omicron infections in Japan is 13.
The man announced as infected on this day had stayed in Sri Lanka and returned to Japan on the 4th.
Although he tested negative upon entry, a fourth Omicron case in Japan was identified among passengers on the same flight, and he was classified as a close contact, leading to a retest with a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test on the 9th.
