The Supreme Prosecutors' Office Inspection Department: "Reports that Han Dong-su covered up the indictment leak by Lee Seong-yoon's aide are unfounded"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Inspection Department of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office has refuted the Chosun Ilbo's report claiming that Han Dong-su, head of the Inspection Department, covered up the case after detecting evidence that a close aide of Lee Seong-yoon, Seoul High Prosecutor General, leaked the indictment.
On the morning of the 9th, the Supreme Prosecutors' Office Inspection Department issued a statement saying, "The article suggesting that the content about 'Word files of the indictment' being found on the PCs of Chief Prosecutor A and Prosecutor B, who are key aides of Prosecutor General Lee, was omitted from the interim report to the Ministry of Justice under Han's instructions is completely unfounded."
Furthermore, the Inspection Department added, "There is no fact that Han instructed to exclude the parts related to Chief Prosecutor A and Prosecutor B from the interim report, and both Chief Prosecutor A and Prosecutor B are included as subjects of the investigation."
They also explained, "The claim that the edited version of the indictment prepared by Chief Prosecutor A was possibly leaked externally and that the Inspection Department has not announced the results of the investigation is also entirely untrue; the investigation is ongoing according to procedures."

Earlier, Chosun Ilbo reported that the Inspection Department, which was investigating the indictment leak case involving Prosecutor General Lee, confirmed in May that Chief Prosecutor A accessed the internal prosecution network, copied the indictment, edited it into a Word file, and stored it, but did not escalate it to a formal inspection. The media also stated that Word files containing the indictment were found on the PC of Prosecutor B, who worked with Prosecutor General Lee, but were omitted from the interim report to the Ministry of Justice under Han's instructions.
