Gwangyang-si Awarded 'Best Institution' for Food Safety Index
Selected as the Nation's Best for Evaluation of Children's Food Safety Index Awareness and Practice Levels
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that it has been selected as the best institution in the "Dietary Safety Index Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and will receive a commendation from the Minister of Food and Drug Safety.
The evaluation is conducted every three years on 228 cities, counties, and districts across 17 provinces nationwide to objectively assess children's dietary safety and nutritional levels, reflecting and feeding back the results into policy.
The city received high marks for its contributions to food safety management in the overall performance evaluation of the evaluation fields.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety surveyed and analyzed children's dietary levels by local governments using 29 detailed indicators across three areas related to food, and evaluated them as "Dietary Safety Index Performance Data."
Byun Nak-hyun, Director of the Food Hygiene Division, said, "Based on the children's dietary safety index, we are continuously conducting guidance inspections, education, and publicity to improve dietary safety and nutritional levels, and we will do our best in food safety management projects to provide food safety administration trusted by citizens."
