Three Additional Suspected Omicron Cases Related to Seoul National University
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Regarding Seoul National University, where a confirmed case of the new COVID-19 variant Omicron has occurred, three additional suspected Omicron infection cases have been identified.
According to Gwanak-gu on the 7th, three close contacts of A, an existing Omicron confirmed case and an international student at Seoul National University, were recently diagnosed positive and classified as suspected Omicron cases, with further analysis underway.
The initial confirmed case, A, is understood to have tested positive after visiting a church in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, attended by a pastor couple who were the first confirmed Omicron cases in Korea.
Gwanak-gu stated that A had a total of seven close contacts; four of the remaining close contacts tested negative, and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency is currently analyzing whether the three confirmed cases are Omicron infections.

So far in Seoul, including A, a total of three people have been confirmed infected with the Omicron variant: one international student at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and one international student at Kyung Hee University. Concerns about further infections are growing in university areas where Omicron confirmed cases have appeared.
