Yeongsangang Regional Environmental Office Promotes Participation in Daily Practices for Carbon Neutrality Week
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office (Director Ryu Yeon-gi) announced that from the 6th to the 10th, it will carry out various practical campaigns with citizens in celebration of Carbon Neutrality Week.
‘Carbon Neutrality Week’ was designated to mark the first anniversary of the 2050 Carbon Neutral Vision Declaration, to raise awareness of the urgent need for a transition to a carbon-neutral society, and to lead changes and actions throughout society.
Carbon-neutral lifestyle habits that can be practiced at home, in companies, and schools can be found on the Birth Campaign webpage or the Yeongsan River Office’s social media account (Facebook).
At home, people can practice reducing digital carbon footprints*, cutting standby power of home appliances, and using eco-friendly condensing boilers. Companies can implement green product purchasing systems within the company, establish product strategies considering resource circularity (reducing excessive packaging, low-carbon product certification, etc.), and promote paperless meetings as ways to practice carbon neutrality.
Additionally, schools can participate in carbon neutrality by operating low-carbon meal plans (using local agricultural products, seasonal and domestic ingredients, etc.) and replacing school buses with electric buses.
Ryu Yeon-gi, Director of the Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office, stated, “The climate crisis is no longer a problem only for future generations; it is an issue that has come right before our eyes.” He added, “The Yeongsan River Basin Environmental Office will also strive together for the transition to carbon neutrality through measures such as converting official vehicles to zero-emission cars and promoting carbon emission reduction policies by sector.”
