[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] The film "Kingmaker," starring actors Seol Kyung-gu and Lee Sun-kyun, will light up theaters at the end of December.
On the 7th, Megabox Joongang Corp. Plus M announced that the movie "Kingmaker" (directed by Byun Sung-hyun) will be released on the 29th.
"Kingmaker" is a drama depicting the fierce election battle that begins when politician Kim Un-beom, who challenges the world, and the election strategist Seo Chang-dae, whose existence and name are hidden, jump into the fray.
The film is attracting attention as a new work presented by director Byun Sung-hyun, who was invited to the Midnight Screening at the 70th Cannes International Film Festival for "The Outlaws," along with the production team and actor Seol Kyung-gu.
The December box office is set to open with overseas blockbuster hits. These include "Spider-Man: No Way Home," which opens the curtain to a new multiverse worldview, "Kingsman: The First Agent," the third installment of the "Kingsman" series, and "The Matrix Resurrections," the long-awaited sequel to "The Matrix Revolutions" released in 2003, all of which have secured solid fan bases and will be released consecutively.
As for Korean films, "Kingmaker" will make its appearance. Not only does it showcase the stylish mise-en-sc?ne seen in the previous work, but it also creates a retro yet unique visual with classic and sophisticated direction, demonstrating the mastery of mise-en-sc?ne. Moreover, although it tells a story set in the 1960s and 70s, it is expected to deliver a message and deep resonance that modern audiences can relate to through themes that resonate with the present.
