Yoon Suk-yeol: "I Will Be a President Who Reconciles Differences"... Emphasizing a 'National Unity-Type Campaign Committee'
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jun-yi] On the 6th, Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, expressed his ambition to create a national unification-type campaign committee ahead of the launch ceremony of the Central Election Countermeasures Committee, saying, "Politics is not done by a 'person' but by 'people'."
On the same day, Candidate Yoon said on Facebook, "Politics exists because there are differences of opinion, and politics is established when differences of opinion are accepted as natural. The era when one leader decides and leads everything is already over."
He emphasized 'national unification' as the direction of the campaign committee. Candidate Yoon stated, "I thought that the process of forming the campaign committee should be a process of national unification," adding, "Even if young men and young women, people in their 20s and 40s have different understandings and emotions, I believe that we must become one and can become one on the path toward a greater Republic of Korea and a better future." He also said, "We have tried to create a national unification-type campaign committee that transcends the barriers of gender, generation, region, and ideology."
With Kim Jong-in joining the People Power Party's campaign committee as the overall campaign chairman, additional appointments for centrist expansion are expected. On the same day, Chairman Kim also emphasized the 'Committee for Accompanying the Underprivileged' on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show,' effectively confirming the inclusion of former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop, known as a centrist figure, and former lawmaker and 'economic expert' Yoon Hee-sook.
Candidate Yoon added, "Politics exists because there are differences of opinion, and politics is established when differences of opinion are accepted as natural," and said, "It is the politician's job to properly mediate differences of opinion."
He questioned, "How much has the Republic of Korea been divided and torn apart during the five years of the Moon Jae-in administration?" and "How difficult has the life of ordinary people been due to misguided ideology and arrogance and dogmatism that only they are right?"
