Embezzlement of 13 Million Won from 36 People for Diesel Exhaust Fluid and Used Books on Secondhand Sites
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A man in his 20s who scammed over 13 million won by pretending to sell diesel exhaust fluid and used goods online has been arrested.
On the 5th, the Busan Southern Police Station announced that they had arrested Mr. A on charges of fraud for deceiving 36 people hoping to trade used goods this year and pocketing 13.52 million won.
According to the police, Mr. A is suspected of embezzling payment by pretending to sell diesel exhaust fluid, used books, figures, and other items on online platforms such as Junggonara, Bungaejangter, and Kakao Open Chat from January to November this year.
Even during the investigation, Mr. A continued his fraudulent activities. It was also found that in early November, when a domestic diesel exhaust fluid shortage occurred, he posted false ads online claiming to sell diesel exhaust fluid and extorted 500,000 won.
It is known that Mr. A squandered the criminal proceeds obtained through fraud on illegal gambling.
