[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, conducted capacity-building training for about 240 childcare center staff over two days on the 2nd and 3rd at the auditorium of the Jinju Childcare Comprehensive Support Center.
Organized by the Jinju Childcare Center Association, this training focused on child abuse prevention and mandatory reporting education, aimed at eradicating child abuse in childcare centers and creating a trusted and safe childcare environment.
The training was held in four sessions of 60 people each to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Song Dong-ho, director of the Gyeongnam Western Child Protection Agency, conducted case-based sessions covering laws related to child abuse prevention, mandatory reporting obligations that childcare staff must practically understand, and reporting procedures when abuse is discovered.
Childcare teachers who participated in the training said, "I realized that careless actions toward children could be considered child abuse," and "It was a time to rethink child abuse and reflect on ourselves."
A city official stated, "We hope this training will help prevent child abuse and aid in the early detection and protection of abused children," adding, "We will do our best to ensure our children grow up safely and comfortably in a secure childcare environment."
