[Gokseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cha Jong-sun] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Yoo Geun-gi) held a Love Winter Kimchi Sharing event at the Agricultural Technology Center Eoul Madang for two days from December 1st to 2nd.
This event was organized by the Gokseong-gun Women's Association, with about 150 volunteers participating.
The kimchi made during the event will be delivered to 342 households of elderly living alone and disabled people who have become more isolated due to fewer visits from their children and reduced interactions with neighbors amid COVID-19. Additionally, it will be evenly distributed to seven local children's centers and one group home.
Han Hee-sook, president of the Women's Association who led the kimchi sharing with support from Gokseong-gun, expressed, "Despite the severe situation caused by COVID-19, I am grateful to the women volunteers who actively participated in the kimchi event with a heart for neighbors in need. Even a small amount of kimchi can provide a happy and hearty meal."
Meanwhile, a county official said, "While preparing the kimchi, the first snow fell and the weather dropped below freezing, making it difficult, but thanks to the dedication of the volunteers, we were able to complete the kimchi making safely." He expressed gratitude to the women volunteers and members of the Gokseong-gun volunteer groups.
