‘Sharing, a Social Vaccine for Everyone!... Installation of 'Love Donation Box' in Gwanak-gu’
[Seoul District News] Gwanak-gu, 2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Campaign: Public-Private Fundraising Effort Runs Until February 14 Next Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) held an installation ceremony for the ‘Sharing, a Social Vaccine for All! Love Donation Box’ on the first floor of the district office on the 2nd, officially launching the ‘2022 Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ project.
The ‘Hope Ondol Warm Winter’ is a public-private cooperation project jointly promoted by Gwanak-gu and the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to raise private funds so that neighbors in difficult circumstances can spend a warm winter.
This installation ceremony was held to encourage voluntary participation and interest from local residents, organizations, and companies, reflecting the willingness of Gwanak-gu employees to join. Moreover, considering the difficulty of face-to-face fundraising due to COVID-19, the project focuses on non-face-to-face donations through smartphone QR code scanning and the expansion of online donations using the district’s SNS. At the ceremony, Yonsei Geonwoo Hospital in the district donated 110 bags of rice, adding warmth to the event.
The district has set the fundraising period for donations and goods until February 14 next year, concentrating on discovering private resources and actively working to support neighbors in need.
Also, at each neighborhood community center, the local officers will identify marginalized groups in welfare blind spots, and welfare planners will assist in connecting helping hands immediately.
Through practicing sharing and volunteer activities, various support such as rice sharing, love kimchi support, and cold-weather supplies will be provided to help neighbors in difficulty regain hope and stand up.
In addition, using private resources, the district will carry out goods sharing and volunteer projects, and together with Gwanak Food Bank and Market, will promote holiday donation sharing projects.
Last year, the district raised about 2.34 billion won in donations and goods, supporting living expenses, medical expenses, housing costs, and tuition for elderly living alone, low-income families, and single-parent families in the area.
Residents, companies, and organizations wishing to participate in the Hope Ondol Warm Winter project can inquire at the district office’s Welfare Policy Division or neighborhood community centers, and donations can be made by depositing into Gwanak-gu’s official account.
