Ministry of Unification Resumes Office Inspections of North Korea-Related Organizations Suspended Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification has resumed office inspections of organizations related to North Korea, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, since early last month.
According to the Ministry of Unification on the 2nd, as the government declared a phased return to normal life starting from the 1st of last month, the Ministry also restarted office inspections targeting registered corporations from early last month.
Office inspections are a type of audit conducted on organizations receiving subsidies. Since the controversy over the distribution of leaflets to North Korea by some defector organizations, the Ministry of Unification has selected 109 out of a total of 433 corporations to conduct office inspections since August of last year.

Subsequently, considering the COVID-19 situation, the inspections were suspended, and so far audits have been completed for 72 corporations, including North Korean human rights organizations and defector support organizations.
