"Why Won't the Passenger Seat Recline?" 40s Man Assaults Taxi Driver While Drunk
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] A passenger who assaulted a taxi driver while intoxicated was arrested on the spot by the police.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 2nd that they have detained a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, on charges of assaulting a driver under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, and are currently investigating.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of assaulting taxi driver Mr. B on a road in Yeongdeungpo-gu around 11:50 p.m. on the 30th of last month, after complaining that the front passenger seat would not recline properly while riding in the taxi.
Mr. A reportedly grabbed Mr. B's mask, glasses, and collar, and when Mr. B stopped the taxi by the roadside, Mr. A went to the driver's side and struck Mr. B's face twice.
The police, who responded to Mr. B's report, arrested Mr. A at the scene.
