Shinhan Card "Make Payments with Your Face at GS Fresh Too"
GS Retail and FacePay Sign Strategic Partnership Agreement for Implementation
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] Shinhan Card has introduced Shinhan FacePay, which allows payment using only facial recognition, at GS The Fresh Gwanak Branch and GS25 World Cup Plaza Branch.
Shinhan Card and GS Retail held a partnership agreement ceremony for Shinhan FacePay on the 2nd. The ceremony, held at GS Tower in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, was attended by representatives from both companies, including Kim Jong-seo, Head of GS Retail Platform BU Strategy Division, and Yoo Tae-hyun, Head of Shinhan Card Digital First Division.
Shinhan FacePay, introduced for the first time in a supermarket at GS The Fresh Gwanak Branch, allows customers to conveniently use the service at dedicated Shinhan FacePay checkout counters after registering their payment card and facial information once through an unmanned registration device installed at the customer center for identity verification.
This eliminates the hassle of handing over cards or launching smartphone payment applications for transactions, enhancing convenience and efficiency for both customers and cashiers. Shinhan Card plans to introduce a service where GS&Points are automatically accumulated with Shinhan FacePay payments in the future.
At GS25 World Cup Plaza Branch, the same system is applied to the hybrid unmanned and manned store for necessary identity verification processes, enabling entry and payment at convenience stores using only facial recognition. Shinhan FacePay will also be applied to GS25 Dongducheon Songnae Branch by mid-month.
To commemorate the launch of this service, Shinhan Card and GS Retail will offer a 5-pack of Shin Ramyun upon registering for Shinhan FacePay and provide various instant gifts with each payment.
