Hana Financial Group Receives Government Award for Sustainable Management, Wins 'Comprehensive ESG Category Presidential Award'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Hana Financial Group announced on the 2nd that it received the ‘Presidential Award in the Comprehensive ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) Category’ at the '2021 Sustainable Management Merit Government Awards' ceremony.
The '2021 Sustainable Management Merit Government Awards,' held the previous day at the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is the only government award in the sustainable management sector, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. It recognizes outstanding companies that have led the spread of sustainable management culture and contributed to enhancing industrial competitiveness.
Hana Financial Group declared this year as the inaugural year of ESG management practice, establishing the group’s mid- to long-term ESG vision and two promotion goals. It was recognized for fulfilling social responsibility through finance and contributing to the spread and leadership of sustainable management, earning the ‘Presidential Award’ in the comprehensive ESG category.
In March this year, Hana Financial Group established the ‘Sustainable Management Committee’ within the holding company’s board of directors to decide on major matters such as the group’s ESG strategy and policy formulation. Through the resolution to enact the 'Hana Financial Group Sustainable Finance Framework,' it has prepared standards to transparently disclose performance to stakeholders, making efforts to strengthen ESG management.
