Cases of infection with the new COVID-19 variant Omicron have been reported in Switzerland as well.
On the night of the 30th (local time), the Federal Office of Public Health announced on Twitter, "Two cases of Omicron variant infection have been confirmed in Switzerland."
They added, "These two cases are related to each other," and "Both individuals are currently in isolation."
As a result, the number of countries where Omicron variant infections have been confirmed has increased to a total of 22, including Switzerland, South Africa, Botswana, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and Brazil.
Switzerland banned foreigners coming from the South African region, Hong Kong, Belgium, and Israel starting November 26 to prevent the influx of the Omicron variant.
