Nexon Wins Compensation Lawsuit Against Illegal Private Server Operators
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Nexon announced on the 1st that it won a damages lawsuit filed against operators of illegal private servers for its game "Baram-ui Nara".
Earlier, Nexon began legal actions last year against operators of illegal private servers for "Baram-ui Nara," including claims for copyright infringement suspension and destruction, as well as damages claims.
On the 23rd of last month, the court recognized the copyright infringement and ordered them to pay a total of 450 million KRW in damages. The damages liability was jointly imposed not only on the operators who committed the copyright infringement but also on those who played a role in revenue transfer.
Illegal private servers refer to operations that create unauthorized similar or identical games without permission from the copyright holder or provide services as if they were the same game to gain profits.
Currently, Nexon is actively responding to illegal private servers for its service games such as "Baram-ui Nara" and "MapleStory".
