[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] COVID-19 is spreading mainly among educational institutions and manufacturing companies in Gwangju.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City on the 30th, 52 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Gwangju the previous day, classified as confirmed cases number 6234 to 6285.
The infection routes are as follows: 12 related to manufacturing in Gwangsan-gu, 1 related to a daycare center in Gwangsan-gu, 3 related to an elementary school in Seo-gu, 4 related to a middle school (B) in Seo-gu, 5 related to a bathhouse (B) in Buk-gu, 2 related to an academy in Dong-gu, 3 related to an elementary school (B) in Gwangsan-gu, 1 related to a medical institution in Seo-gu, 3 related to a religious facility in Gwangsan-gu, 2 confirmed cases from other cities and provinces, 12 related to previously confirmed cases, 3 tested due to symptoms, and 1 imported case.
The confirmed cases related to manufacturing in Gwangsan-gu are foreigners with Cambodian, Uzbekistani, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, and Kazakhstani nationalities, who were infected through workplace colleagues who were previously confirmed cases.
The elementary school in Gwangsan-gu, middle school and elementary school in Seo-gu, daycare center in Gwangsan-gu, bathhouse in Buk-gu, and academy in Dong-gu cases were found to be infections among classmates or family members. One additional case was confirmed at a medical institution in Seo-gu, bringing the total to 10.
The three confirmed cases related to a religious facility in Gwangsan-gu are of Russian and Kazakhstani nationality and tested positive during pre-release quarantine testing.
The 12 cases related to previously confirmed patients were infected through contact with family members and acquaintances whose infection routes are unclear.
The confirmed cases from other cities and provinces were infected by confirmed patients in Jeonnam and Jeonbuk.
Three people are under investigation due to symptomatic testing, and one person who arrived from the United States tested positive during pre-release quarantine testing.
