BMT Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Busan Factory... Construction Starts Next Month "Stepping Stone to Becoming a Global Company"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] BMT, a company specializing in fittings, valves, and power equipment, announced on the 26th that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new factory in Jangan-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan. The ceremony was attended by BMT CEO Yoon Jongchan and officials from related organizations.
The new factory site in Jangan, Busan covers an area of 47,900㎡, with a total building floor area of 43,200㎡. The construction investment is approximately 34 billion KRW, and according to the guidelines for subsidies for attracting companies from outside the region, Busan City will provide 5 billion KRW in support. Construction will begin next month, with completion, facility relocation, and new hiring scheduled by March 2023, after which the factory will commence operations. The annual production capacity is expected to increase from the current 150 billion KRW to 300 billion KRW.
A BMT representative stated, “In response to growing customer demand driven by the semiconductor boom, increased LNG ship orders, and the dawn of the hydrogen energy era, we decided on large-scale investment and expansion relocation of the production plant. Through the introduction of new equipment and optimization of layout, productivity will increase, enabling us to offer products of superior quality compared to competitors.”
BMT supplies ultra-high purity (UHP) fittings and valves to Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and LG Display, and manufactures cryogenic valves and units for liquefied natural gas (LNG) for Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, and Samsung Heavy Industries. Additionally, BMT supplies electrical distribution panels to the Public Procurement Service and numerous domestic and international construction projects.
Meanwhile, the company announced that on the 24th it was selected as the lead company for technology development in a Korea-China joint research support project and completed an industrial technology innovation business agreement. Under government support, it is developing ultra-high-pressure products related to hydrogen and other eco-friendly energy infrastructure.
